Lesson #7: Gratitude

My goals after graduating with my PhD were to transition into a job that reflected my PhD studies: an education professor focused on curriculum & instruction, working on research, analyzing data for a large school district.  But life has a way of throwing unexpected curve balls and my husband was offered a job promotion two months before my graduation.  There were several job potential job offers in the works at this point, and I had to let these opportunities know that I was no longer available for the jobs because I was moving to the midwest.  I was heart broken, upset, and disappointed to say the least.

It took me a while to get into a rhythm of gratitude for where I was and what I was doing, but once I began, I noticed that I was being showered with love, opportunities, and a sense of community.   My spirit of thankfulness was first directed towards my job (colleagues and students) because I knew that it was one of the reasons I was able to not feel as lost in a new area.  My neighborhood is another great area to celebrate, and I am always thankful for all of the families that live around me.

My newest source of joy is the online community that I have been able to develop over the past few months.  I never knew how much fun it would be to connect with bloggers from all over the world.

Yesterday, I attended a blogger event hosted by Jeanne,  which was truly amazing.  I met many local bloggers who have a variety of interests, but the connecting theme was self empowerment.  We have chosen to be thankful for our God given talents, and we are showing our appreciation to the universe by sharing them with the world in hopes that we can inspire and motivate others.

I am grateful for these women and to be a part of a community that fosters positivity and love.

Lesson #7:  Gratitude + Gratitude = Abundance

Shout outs to the host of this amazing event: Jeanne (www.instagram.com/finessecurves314).

The photographer was an adorable sweetheart: Emma (www.instagram.com/ emsoebs).

Outfit time: This outfit is from my closet, except the over the knee boots are from Nordstrom, and I purchased them a few weeks ago.  The host of the event asked us to wear colors black and red.  I struggled with what to wear because I don't have a lot of red in my closet. Also, I wanted to pick something fun and silly because in meeting these women for the first time, I wanted to show my fun and playful personality.  I haven't worn this skirt in a loooooong time, but it was nice to be able to pull it out and make use of it at such a fab and fun event!

I added the link below for the boots! You should really check them out...they are 40% off!!!!  I really love these boots!  I'm actually kind of salty that they have dropped that much in price...lol.
Happy Monday!
