Spring Into Your New Reality

Spring Into Your New Reality

The new spring season is upon us and that means that we are filled with excitement and renewed energy. Anything that has felt heavy or made us feel bogged down should be shed and dismissed with this season of change. Before change occurs in our reality, we have to create change in our minds. We have to commit to the change with intention, clarity, and focus. Once that change is fully realized in our minds, we can work on new behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs that will help to execute the desired change into our realities.

Over the past few weeks, I decided that I had to go through my own process of change. I took a good look at myself, my vision, and my goals, and I realized that it was time to commit to my real goal. You may ask, “what is that? What’s your real goal?” We have short term goals, goals that make sense for others to see, and then there are the goals that we keep to ourself in hopes that it happens because we are too scared to say them out loud. My real goal in life is to be a speaker who gets the opportunity to speak about a variety of different topics, but with the hopes that my audience is left inspired, nurtured, and with the belief that they are capable of achieving the secret dreams that they only visit when they are in private. I have had this dream since I was a young girl and it’s always been very clear in my head that it was my destination, but I have struggled with how to get there. Well, I finally decided that God was telling me that it was time to stop swirling around. I felt the clarity of the circumstances around me that screamed out, “It’s time for you to own your secret dream and stop hiding.” I’ll explain what the screaming looked like.

In January, Keisha Mabry, an amazing woman who has developed an awesome speaking career reached out to connect and to check on how we could collaborate in the future. She shared that she was hosting a conference, MastHERclass, for women to learn about how to build online businesses from dynamic speakers across the country. Well, as fate would have it, Bumble wanted me to host an International Women in Business Mentorship Dinner experience and coincidently her conference was going to be held the same time as my event. Due to the amazing timing coincidence, I was able to host a welcome dinner for the MastHerclass speakers and local women in St. Louis! It was an amazing experience to be around all of these speakers and to be inspired by their presence! Also, at her conference, Keisha Mabry provided a session on how to “Get Into Speaking,” which to me was priceless! It’s not common to get a coaching session with a step by step guide on how to get to your ultimate destination. So, in my world this reflected that it was time for change and that I couldn’t shy away anymore from the “thing” that I really want to do.

I’m not sure if you are anything like me, but I love to give myself new hoops or new situations that I need to complete or accomplish before I can do that “thing.” I have realized that it’s my way of procrastination. It’s my way of telling myself that I’m not ready, so that I don’t have to face the real thing and I can continue climbing. But sometimes the climb is over. Sometimes it’s time to just spring into your new reality. I can proudly say that I have finally made the shift in my mind and I have begun to execute the steps to become the speaker that I want to be. No more hiding, no more excuses, and no more fake tests that I have to pass.

If this message is for you, it’s time to stop circling around your desired goal. Stop adding steps, blocks and unnecessary challenges so that you can feel like you are ready. Don’t get me wrong, what we want usually requires a large amount of work and perseverance, but if you don’t catch yourself, you could find yourself in a scripted wheel of hustle because you are choosing a round about way of getting to your goal. Honor the “real” goal sooner than later and just go after it. Thank you for stopping by and reading this blog post!
